Yorkshire Water is set to start a £12m water improvement scheme at Bolton Upon Dearne Waste water Treatment Works (WwTW), Rotherham, Yorkshore County, UK.
Yorkshire Water has contracted Galliford Try to start the 14-month project from the end of November. The project includes construction of a new inlet works and installation of a new treatment process.
Upon completion, the new treatment process will improve the quality of water being released back into the River Dearne, benefitting the environment including fish populations.
The project site is located to the south east of the town, off Mexborough Road via an access track between Riverside Gardens and Garbutt Street.
Galliford Try will set up a site compound, which will include a number of site cabins and welfare facilities, over the next two weeks.
Yorkshire Water spokesperson John Bond said: “This is key project to ensure we further improve river quality in South Yorkshire and bring about significant improvements to the local environment.
“The site is accessed via a small track and although we’ll do everything we can to minimise disruption, local residents may notice an increase in traffic in the area. We’d ask that people take additional care when driving or crossing roads and assure customers that we’ll keep them updated as the scheme progresses.”
Yorkshire Water is a water supply and treatment utility company serving Yorkshire, part of North Lincolnshire and part of Derbyshire.
It has 640 waste water treatment works across the region and treats around 1 billion litres of water everyday.
